Has anyone got an error: " an unknown error occurred while accessing....central.rvt" while trying to save to central?

I try to create a new local  from the central file and still you can't not save to central with that new local file.

 any suggestions?

try to open the file with Audit option, let Revit try to fix it and save as central...

I'm getting the same message in 2011.  I've tried audit and purge.  I've made local files before in 2011 and they work fine.  Please help! Thanks!

As eldados said, try to audit the file and create a new central.  If that doesn't work and if your local is up to date, create a new central from that.  Either way, you should be making new local afterwards.

I had tried audit, purge...making new central and locals...I finally called our tech support.  The problem ended up being a permissions issue with the project folder.  I made a brand new project folder and copied every file over separately, not just moving all the subfolders because those too had a permission issue.  I made a new local file and everything worked perfectly!  So this was NOT a revit problem.

If you're on a server, it is possible that you are just out of space on your storage drive. That happened to me. Add more space or free some up and you should be good to go.

I think the original poster probably solved his problem .... 3 THREE years ago.

Please pay attention to the post date.

Hi guys,

I realise this post is very old - but just wondering if anyone remembers exactly what folder permissions were preventing the save?

We've got the same issue at the moment & after about a months worth of Autodek support & our own IT guys investigating, we still can't work out what's going on.

Essentially we have 6 computers in the office. Whenever a file is workshared we could have up to 4 people working on it at the same time. 2 of those computers are encountering these errors (not consistently I might add) and we are trying to work out why some computers are fine and some aren't.

Really appreciate any insight or information!

Thanks in advance,

PS. Running Revit 2017 on all computers.

Check out the mapping of the drives.  Local computers may be trying to access the central file via different mapping routes, which causes communication probelms between the files.  Ask your tech guys to check that the mapping to the server drive is the same for the different computers.
