Hello guys,

I'm pretty new with the whole forum thing.  In fact, this is probably my first post in a forum ever... therefore, i'd greatly appreciate any feedback positive or negative =).  Anyway, I wonder if anyone has experience in BIM management for tilt-up concrete construction.  The new company (i might be working for) wants to see the benefits of Revit in terms of Planning, Clash detection, material take-off and of course during construction.  Because this topic can be very broad, i might have to create different threads for different questions (of the same project of course)

ATTACHED @ THE BOTTOM IS THE ENGINEER'S DWG. FOR THE CONCRETE PANELS.

Part 1 - Planning

1. What is the best approach to create concrete panels for construction? So far i have 2:

a. Draw the walls per plan then use Create Part with Gap Division.

b. Create each panel individually (this can get super tricky because the engineer dwgs do not dimension out the cut-out locations).

2. How should I set up floor elevations?

Because the walls are embeded below grade beyond level 1 flooring, I find myself having to use edit profile after creating the walls and split them into parts on LEVEL 1 (0'-0") to match the engineer's spec.  This method worked for me because panels are built @ different height due to the slope of existing topography.  For some reason, it doesnt feel like the correct way to do it though.  Please advise.

3. How should i do my wall cut-outs for scheduling purposes?  Cryingwall cut-out or edit profile or create void)

To be able to tag the cut-out would be great too. Please advise

You could try using a curtain wall for the panels. You can create your own custom panel with parameters you will need for ege gaps or what not. You can then create different types for with materials.
