I am working in Revit 2015.  I am trying to draw a ceiling, but it wont show in ANY views.  None at all!  Everytime I add another ceiling into the same place through the "Automatic Ceiling" tool, I get an error message that there are "There are identical instances in the same place. This will result in double counting in schedules."  Still, these identical ceilings wont show up in ANY view.  I tried creating a new section where the ceiling should be, but it doesn't show the ceiling there either.

The Visibility/Graphics has "Ceilings" checked.  They are not hidden because I cannot see them when I click the lightbulb ("Reveal Hidden Elements" button".  I have no design options.  I did, but I deleted them all before I started to even try installing ceilings.  There is a ceiling on the 1st floor which shows up, but when I go and try placing a ceiling on the floor above I have no luck.  I tried hiding elements in the "{3D}" view and nothing seems to be over the missing, yet existing, ceilings.  The ceilings are being placed above the 2nd floor, so they shouldn't be underneath anyways.  The ceilings aren't placed at some extreme height where I can't see them.  Their height is set at 8 feet!  I am not really sure what to do.  I really don't even need a ceiling.  I just want to place some light fixtures along a fur-down element.  Still, now I have so many ceilings which exist, but somehow can't be seen anywhere, which I would like to delete.

I don't know what to do.  Any ideas?

i believe you tried creating a new ceiling view and didnt work , had you tried drawing the ceiling on a 3d view and make sure its on the right place and see if its there , if so , are you sure you fully understand the view range settings in a ceiling view ?

Are yhou using a Revit reflected ceiling plan or are you using a floor plan that you named ceiling?  I have seen other new users make this mistake.  Also check out your view properties.  The ceiling may not be in range.

I am using the Reflected Ceiling Plan view, don't worry.  Thanks though.

I tried sketching a ceiling in a 3D window and got an error message which basically said I need to set the work plane to a level to be able to draw the ceiling in the 3D view.  So, I set the work plane to Level 1 since it wouldn't work if I selected a surface as the reference plane.  I want that work plane on Level 1 anyways.  Now when I draw a ceiling, it works.  After adjusting a few settings for the View Range in the Reflected Ceiling Plan view, the ceiling shows as well!

I am not sure what happened to my other 15 or so invisible ceilings which still don't show up.  I didn't check EVERY view, but I am just going to say it.  They still won't show up in ANY view!  I'm not making any schedules, so I guess it doesn't matter?

Filters under visibility graphics?

Working in closed workset?

Just to nama a few?

Best way to check for ceilings is by cutting a section through where they are are using a 3D view and isolating just ceilings
