All,

Im the BIM Manager at an MEP firm in NYC. Ive had this issue before but was able to fix it without issue however this time its different. We do all trades in one model, its faster and easier for everyone and works great. Recently one of my guys modeled a sprinkler system using the same families, piping systems and pipe types we use in all our projects. I know these are correct because I set them up myself. Anyway, all trades print fine until you get to the sprinkler drawings. For some reason a few of the floors take extremely long to print. Ive tried everything I can think of to remedy it.

- Made sure system isnt calculating

- Changed to Medium to print single line

- Made sure heads werent calculating

It will print/pdf if I use RASTER instead of VECTOR but it looks terrible. This same problem happens when doing an export to CAD function as well. Which I tried in order to see file size. Which is massive in comparison to when I exported the plumbing of the same floor. 538k to 13500k. My computer is well above the Revit standards are far as hardware. Im running Windows 7 as well.

Any suggestions?!

This is just a guess.  Do you have your trades in seperate worksets?   If so, try unloading all of the other worksets before printing.

Yes we use worksets for all trades.

No, turning them all off made no difference.

I figured it out. I dont know how but one of my sprinkler heads was showing in plan/medium view rather then just the annotated symbol in its place. I fixed that and everything prints perfectly now.
