I have a series of structural columns inside exterior walls. When I first place them, they cut the wall as expected. However, once I trim the top of the columns to a reference plane, the columns no longer cut the wall in plan. Any idea why this is happening? I've tried playing around with creating voids in the column family, but this doesn't work. I can't use the structural column to cut the wall.

First just check thats its not to do with view range or visibility.

Then take a look at this.

Is this a concrete column with a concrete wall and are both using the same 'material'. Also try using the 'join geometry' tool.
