I'm trying to create an area schedule similar to the one that is attached. I was thinking I could create a new schedule for each level that breaks down the count, but I can't figure out how to give the units that aren't on a specific level a count of 0. Is there an easy way or workaround? Thanks in advance.

First, a Revit schedule will not look like that.

You can schedule both rooms or areas by level similar to what I have below.  You could have a column for areas.

I think I actually figured it out. Ended up creating 0 SF areas for each unit type on each floor and creating a calculated value for count using if(Area=0, 0, 1) and calculating totals which gave me an accurate count.

It's a little more complicated than that, but it works!

Some tasks one just have to imagine and improvise a solution. Glad that you made it to work. Nowadays one can use dynamo to manipulate that data.
