I've tried doing a frosted glass door with a transparent image cutout of it using cutout in the material, but when i render it the image is also cutout of the reverse face of the glass sheet so i get two mirrored cutouts overlapping - how do i get rid of this?

I modelled the manifestation as a thin film separate from the glass in the door family with a plastic material with an image transparency painted to 1 face only of the film in the family

I'm still not sure here, even putting a "Thin" film seperate to glass, I still get the image mapped to both sides of the film. What am I missing? painted to 1 face only in family? how do I do this? I must admit families are not mt forte.

Thanks in advance.

The glass door should have a normal glass material, I gave the film a glass material but then used the "paint material to face command" (see attached image), in the  family editor (this command is also available in the main revit project editor) to paint the manifestation material to one face only of the film.

Hope this helps
