I'm using Revit Structure 2014 and have a persistant issue - regardless of the size of the model I'm working on or what I'm doing every ~8 seconds or so the cursor will go into 'hourglass' mode for a second. It does this regardless of what I'm doing - moving the cursor around a plan view, selecting items, editing items, in 3D mode or looking at a section. Even if I just move the cursor from one location to another in blank space without touching any building elements.  It also happens regardless of the model size I'm working on - at the moment I'm in a ~50MB model, so it's not exactly pushing the boundaries of the system I'm using.

As far as performance goes - I have

16GB of Ram

Quad core 3.7 GHz Intel Xeon E5-1620 V2 processor

AMDfirepro w5000 (firegl v) graphics card.

Has anyone else had this issue? What might cause it?

This may be a network problem.  Are you working in a work shared model?  If so, look at your worksharing update frequency under the Revet R dropdown/options.  If you change that frequency, does it change the frequency of your problem?  If so, then the issue is your network.

Thank you - problem solved.

The worksharing was set to every 5 seconds (I guess I counted too fast to get the 8s before), I changed it to 30seconds and the pause happened every 30s.
