First off, I screwed up trying to delete some shared parameters from our file. One of those was apparently the copyright year we have on the bottom of our sheets.
This used to be a "type" parameter (might be using the wrong lingo there) but the point is if you changed it on one sheet, it would change it on all sheets- which is how we want that one. (just like Client, Project number, address, etc.)
Now, the only way I can get it to work is if it is an "instance" parameter and it would therefore have to be manually typed for every sheet which makes no sense for this type of parameter.
So... what is the best way to go about correcting this?

Not sure what you had before. Just edit your titleblock and put it back in.
Did you lose the shared parameter from your office parameters file? Then just open an old titleblock that has it and export it.

Yeah I thought that was the solution too but when I do that, now it comes in as the instance parameter. I don't quite understand how or why it is doing that though.

It has been so long that we did this.
Our's too is an instance parameter in the project - project information.

Yep that's it and what was throwing me off. If you choose "instance parameter" when you bring the project in you have the options of putting it in the 'sheet' or 'project info' category.
Choosing 'sheet' allows the parameter to change on every sheet independentally (in this case- NOT what I wanted)
Choosing 'project info' changes the parameter on all the sheets by doing it just once (EXACTLY what I wanted)
But, if you choose "type parameter" the 'sheet' and 'project info' options go away entirely which is where I was going wrong. I don't necessarily think of it as an instance parameter since if you change it on one sheet it changes it everywhere but now I know! Thanks for the help!
This was also helpful as well- http://www.revitforum.org/architecture-general-revit-questions/309-type-parameter-titleblock-field.html
