This is a new area for me.  I like to copy much of the walls, roofs, floors from the architectural model and adjust them for use in our structural host model.  What is the rule or what are issues to consider when the floors, for example, are identical from level 7 through level 20 adn the architect used groups for this.  Should I copy the model groups into my model and adjust slabs, etc. within the group for structural use.  Or should I avoid copying groups of identical floors.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you want to copy the architectural groups.  That would be a nightmare.

First thing - whenever possible, copy monitor is better than copy because then you can give feedback to the architect.  When you copy/monitor, you have the option of substituting structural elements for architectural.  You can control the architectural model through seperate VG settings to turn of categories that you c/m.  When you send the model back to him, any changes you make to the copy/monitored objects will show up in his model.

I've not tried any copy/monitor with grouped elements.   Please let us know if you can successfully do that.  If you can't then you may have to resort to copy there.
