Hi, I am working with Revit 2014. I am beining to use a custom plumbing fixture to populate a schedule. I want to be able to tag the plumbing fixture with a plumbing fixture tag, but not allow people to change the text in the tag. Is there a way to lock the text in the shared parameter that I have associated the plumbing fixture tag with?

The best answer is not really.   Best practice is to continuously train your staff on proper Revit process.  If you can't trust them then why let them do anything in the model?

Not as good an answer:  Some people have played around with checked out worksets but it is not foolproof and really over complicates the problem.

Thanks, I agree with training being a big thing. It seems like there is always a person or two that just doesn't think or are not all aboard with the BIM process that could mess things up when a project is coming to a close.

Locking the text in the plumbing fixture tag can be done if you're talking about tagging by Type, but if your parameter is an instance it can't be done. I've made our plumbing fixture library and tags based on fixture type and placed the type designation in the formula portion of the parameter (using quotations), this makes it uneditable in the project and hard-codes it into the family. One would have to edit the family to change the parameter.
