HI

I WANT TO EXPORT A 3D REVIT MODEL TO FBX FILE FOR 3DS MAX BUT IT EXPORTS TO PROJECT NORTH INSTEAD OF TRUE NORTH.

I HAVE EXPORTED A MODEL WITH NO PROJECT NORTH SET UP AND IT EXPORTED TO TRUE NORTH.

I WAS THINKING OF DOING A SAVE AS MODEL AND REMOVING PROJECT NORTH BEFORE EXPORTING.

IS THERE ANOTHER WAY TO ACHIEVE THIS?

PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENT,

BLUE MODEL = PROPOSED AT PROJECT NORTH

ORANGE MODEL = EXISTING AT TRUE NORTH

THANKS

Are you sure about what you are telling us?

I find very few users that really understand project north and survey north settings.

Watch this viedo if you don't think you understand:

Hi,

I am a colleague of Kylie's. We encountered this problem last year and did not find a solution. Our visualisation consultant simply rotated our exported geometry. Not ideal.

We are now trying to link revit to 3DS max ourselves on another project and encountering the same problem. When we import our Revit (or FBX) files into 3DS Max they come in on the project north rotation we have set up. We need to import with true north.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Rory Caithness

Just so we can verify, show us an image of a plan oriented to true north with view properties and a plan oriented to project north with view properties.
