Hello,

I've had this problem with every version of Revit since 2009. I notice that walls become randomly unjoined from other walls. Often there is a profile line instead of a cut line at a corner, for instance. It has nothing to do with me changing anything at all about the join. I can be placing trees on the site and walls come unjoined. Then, I spend 20 minutes checking every single wall join, and correcting them by dragging the wall end away and bringing it back so that it rejoins. Often, by the time I finish checking them, other walls have come unjoined. Neither I nor my employer is fond of this problem. Has anyone else experienced it, and if so, is there a fix? Today, Autodesk told me to do a clean install; will that solve the problem?

Thanks

This is not a typical Revit problem.  Maybe it is your install but I doubt it.  You don't say what Revit and what updates.  Updates have become very important since 2013.

I think that more than likely this is a process problem and you will have to look closer at that.  Some of the possible problems:

  • Wall sketches.  Be careful with these because they will cause join problems.  It can be handled.
  • Wall layer extensions.  Unlocked wall layers that are then moved will cause problems if not identical to the joining wall.
  • Wall base / height.  If the two wall are not identical this will cause problems.  Splitting the larger wall horizontally at the differential point so the remaining walls are the same start and height wiil fix this.
