I'm modeling a grandstand in Revit 2013. After getting started with simple floors and walls to create the tiers, I realized that there is no way to create a sloped railing --nothing to host it to so that it slopes. I came across this post, which seems incredibly round-about http://do-u-revit.blogspot.com. Is this the only way to go about it? Would building a rail out of a curtain wall / storefront system be better in this application? Anyone have experience with these? Many thanks.

Hi Benlink,

Why don't you just treat the grandstand as a very wide stair? The tread is 34" deep, the riser 22" high, the width 100'-0", this way you can place the guard on each side as for a stair; and sketch the intermediate railing at any places with any length as desired.

Good luck.

Thanks for your response.  The main issue that I'm finding based on your suggestion this morning is that at each tread, I need the bottom rail to continue flat and the top rail to continue on a slope so that there's not a big triangular gap at the bottom.  See the attached image.  Essentially I would need the bottom rail to act like each tread is a landing and the top rail to stay on the slope.

Nevermind.  I'm going to make the rail go down the side of the grandstand...

Thanks for your help.
