I think you have to pay attention to this disclaimer from Autodesk:

"Autodesk certification testing focuses on workstation-grade hardware, as identified by the hardware vendor. Testing and designation as Certified or Recommended does not guarantee that a particular device is workstation-grade or that it will meet a user's particular needs. Test results are valid only for the tested combination of hardware and driver. Certified or Recommended status does not guarantee that the hardware will perform acceptably with other drivers."

WE look at these but we typically don't use this as our primary means of chosing.  We test!   On all of our systems, we have gotten good performance from lower end, "cheaper" cards.  My card is a simple NVIDIA GeForce GTS450 and it works fine for my needs.  We don't do intense renders.. use the cloud more often now.

Autodesk has software engineers that make code specifically for testing graphic cards - we have been in contact one of them - and according to him the Quadro FX3800 passed the tests with Revit 2014; it was suppose to be on the XML file with the graphic cards on an update 3 for revit 2014, to get OK under revit options. I am unsure if that happened, since we got revit 2015 now.

That the point on having both software and hardware certifying card+driver is to ensure that the drivers are robust to prevent crashes, and perform better than regular drivers. It's a bit bizarre that some non certified cards actually are more stable and perform better. Sometimes open source and collaboration is a good thing; perhaps Autodesk should release the testing code so that the users could upload the results of their workstations and share them with the community.

The problem starts when the graphic card system that performs well wit Revit 2013, suddenly and randomly crashes with Revit 2014. We cannot simply return those Quadro cards (or whatever graphic card) and buy new ones. Fair enough that Autodesk states that some cards stoped being supported, but should keep supporting at least as many cards as on the earlier versions, that since projects cannot be saved on an earlier version of revit after being upgraded.

I hava the same issues here and I'm on the verge of taking the card off from my computer and smash it into tiny pieces for all the trouble that has caused me for not meeting work deadlines on time.

Here's my story:

I bought a Dell Precision T7500 form the dell outlet and it came with a Quadro FX3800 Video Card before buying my workstation  i did some research...NVIDIA fx3800 was the right Graphics Card that will work on CAD , Bim (revit / Archicad ) SketchUP and so on.

My card crashes constantly and I can't keep working it damages and makes all sketchup files corrupt as well as Revit files too, I had installed and reinstalled the drivers as recomended by NVIDIA support personell to no avail...they say theres nothing it can be done that maybe the card is not the problem it could be the mother board ...so a dell technitian says that the computer is working perfectly and probably the Graphics card is the problem....

after doing some research it appears that also Photoshop and illustrator users have the same problems with this card and Graphisoft Archicad DOES NOT RECOMEND the FX Series graphics card at all...this card is not compatible with programs running under JAVA.

Bottom Line This CARD DOESNT WORK FOR HIGH END CAD - BIM APPLICATIONS--TWINMOTION LUMION ----Dont buy this card!!!!
