I am having trouble trying to dimension to the centerline of the mullions in my storefronts. I have another project where I was able to do so (I would start my dimension and when I hovered over the center of the mullion a dashed line would appear representing the centerline of the mullion.) in my current project I am unable to do so. does anyone know what the fix might be or what I am doing wrong?

Sounds like you were dimensioning to the 'curtain wall grid' and not the center of the mullions. Use the tab key to select. Putting a strong reference plane in the mullion family will also help. Perhaps your mullions are offset and the curtain wall grid is behind the mullion linework.
