Jeff Hanson made nice post called Snappy Elevation Marks which discusses how to rotate an elevation, once it is placed, so that it can readjust itself properly, should the building form change. Found many posts only at different forums but still... It occurred to me on a number of occasions that both the interior and exterior elevation markers from the default architectural template for Revit Architecture 2014 UR1 get broken when (in plan view) I start rotating and turning the walls (eg lets say I had 4 walls in a square shape and rotated them in a plan by 12 degrees, for example). What I mean by broken is that when using the elevation marker's tiny rotate grip to adjust them at first they would be able to readjust and find the new parallel line to snap to, but after a while of changing the walls rotation they just stop doing so. Tried all kinds of tweaks, but I guess I'm missing something... just cant make them work again after they are 'broken' once. Only way is to recreate them, which is not desirable, since one might be having a lot of info already existing in the view.

Also, it would be so nice if sections, like elevations, could have this rotate grip control so as to readjust should the building form change.

Seems like the only viable solution is Dave's PDF found here (post #3)

http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?59475-Straightening-skewed-elevation-views/page2&highlight=straightening+elevation

However, the little rotate grip control is supposed to work, but why does it get broken (at least in my case) after a while of twisting its or the walls' rotation angles?

Hi there, I don't think there are any other options besides the tutorial post you linked to or using the elevation rotation grips, which as you pointed out, tend to be quite finicky and often don't work. Try isolating the elevation tag and wall you want to snap parallel to so there is less clutter in your view to see if that helps. Otherwise, back to the tutorial! If you find that the rotate gizmo doesn't work, please file a support request with Autodesk. Also, send you feedback to them directly at this link: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=1109794

Thanks, Dave! Removing the clutter wasn't the problem as I was experimenting in a totally blank project. As u suggested, isolated just the one wall and the one elevation marker... still, after some twisting and turning it gets 'broken'. Hopefully, that won't happen in a real project. Just didn't get what makes them get 'broken' at some point, if at first (and for a while) they are able to properly locate and snap to parallel.... tricky...

Why not just cut a new elevation?

For the obvious reason, as I mentioned in the initial post, that one might already be having 2d detail items and/or text on that view. So I would not want to copy and paste or recreate those in the newly created elevation. I'd rather just nudge and adjust the annotation stuff on the existing elevation view, once it is set back to being perpendicular to the wall it gives elevation of.
