If you model MEP systems by floor level, will revit calculations work properly when linking the files?  For example, if a section of your first floor mechanical system needs to connect to the second floor mechanical system in order to perform an accurate load calculation will that work if the two models are seperate but linked in a common file?  I'm curious as to how people have handled these type of modeling requirements.

Any response is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

GW

Why are you modeling them as 2 different MEP models?

I am not and don't recommend it myself, but I am trying to find out if this is possible with the software.  Do you know?  This has been brought up in our office before in reference to very large projects and how one would go about reducing the file size.  I've heard of teams dividing/sectioning discipline models vertically, but want to find out if you could do it horizontally and still use the calculations feature.
