Hi All,
This one seems like a no-brainer, and maybe I'm missing something, but is it not possible to array linework or detail elements within a detail group? Doesn't seem like rocket science but for the life of me I can't get it to work.

why don't you use Repeating Detail Component?

The Repeating Detail Component isn't applicable in this case. Sorry, I should have been more specific about the scenario; I'm creating Detail Groups out of all the 2D elements in a building section, such as linework and other Detail Components like joists and structural steel sections. I'm then copying this Detail Group (in-place) into the wall sections. This is usefull because when something is modified in the building section Detail Group the wall section is updated automatically. The only problem with this is that after creating the Detail Group from the 2D elements it appears like I can no longer create array groups, which is annoying but not impossible to work around. I guess the simple question is whether or not you can array anything within a Detail Group.

Did you create the arrayed element seperate then add them to your group?

Yes, this is the only work-around I've found so far. I can create the initial Detail Group just fine. But if I need to add an Array Group afterwards then I am forced to create it outside of the Detail Group, then copy it (not cut) and paste it in place within the Detail Group. I still don't understand why nothing can be arrayed within a Detail Group.
Perhaps there's a better way to approach the initial goal, which was to have 2D elements in building and wall sections which update in both when modified.

I believe the problem is a process within Revit. If you are in the group create process, how can you start the group process again? Remember, an array in itself is creating a group.
