Having trusses designed by a company which uses MiTek Sapphire which says is powered by Autodesk on the viewer.

I need these trusses in my 3D model because of the intricate design and layouts of them.

Has anyone found a way to bring in 3D files from Sapphire (.mmdl) to either CAD or Revit. As long as I can get it into AutoCAD I’m ok.

I would also like to know if there's a way to do this.  I'm working with a subcontractor who has used this and would like to use it to help with the clash detection process in navisworks.  I can't seem to find anyway to bring a .mmdl type file into a  3d model, be it cad, revit, or directly into Navisworks.  Hope there is some way to do it.

No,

Due to proprietary concerns, this is unfortunately just a one-way conversion.

You CAN, however, insert an exported 3D AutoCAD drawing into the model, but you can't do a proper clash detection with it... Remember, CAD is "dumb", and Revit will not recognize a drawing as a solid entity. To get the 3D .dwg to become recognizable, you have to then convert it to a solid through Navisworks (Simulate, not Manage), which is a costly enterprise if that is all you are doing with that platform.

This is the only way I know how to do this. If anyone else out there knows more about it, please let us know!
