Im working on a project in Revit Structure 2013 that has a large AutoCAD 2012 file linked as a background. I find that as I zoom in and out that the linework of the AutoCAD file contorts and moves with each scroll of the mouse wheel. In AutoCAD the background looks and preforms fine.

I have tried:

  • Updated my Driver
  • Unstalled and reinstalled
  • Unchecked "Use Hardware Acceleration"
  • Checked "Anti-Aliasing"

Itsd worth noting that I do get a warning in my Graphics options:

Newer video card driver:

The installed video card driver is newer than those certified by Revit.   Card: NVIDIA Quadro 4000; current driver: 9.18.13.1115   Certified drivers: 8.17.12.6570You may continue to use Hardware Acceleration. If you experience graphics display issues, you should: - Turn off Hardware Acceleration; or - Install driver that is recommended for use with Revit

But a co-worker gets the same warning without the graphic issue. I've tried my company IT and other co-workers and were at a loss... so I bring my issue to the boards.

Attached is an example, thanks in advance for anny support

Mike Smith

Did you try turning off / on Hardware Acceleration in the REVIT > Options > Graphics > Graphics Mode.

yes, I unchecked Hardware Acceleration, restarted revit completely, and still had the issue.

I believe this problem is typically caused by view scale.  I think Revit treats the import as one object controlled from its insertion point, not individual line entities.  In essence, it may be pixalating the DWG and that causes the jump.  Change your overall view scale bot ways and see what happens.

I gave changing the scale a shot with no luck. I cant imagine it be a "pixalating" or that thats how linked DWG files work. Id imagine we would see quality loss on a regular base if that was so.

I did however have luck with purging out unneeded data in the background file. Being a Site plan it had plenty of information and line work I did not need. Once I get the file down to a less crowded format it seemed to fix the issue. At first glance id say that my video card couldnt handle to load?

I've had this same issue in the past and what I do is; open the cad drawing and turn on all off layers and thaw all freezed layers and then deleted them all and then purge the dwg and then save as.  this should correct your problem.
