I am trying to tag a column, a drop panel, a baseplate and a pile that are all nested and shared families in one parent family. All have types that are selectable from the projects' properties dialog. All nested child families are set to shared while the parent family is not (and I have tried sharing that as well). Yet when I try to tag them all as one family with a multiple category family tag, the shared parameter marks for each family type do not come thru. All tag parameters are shared and instance within the parent family. I can tag them individually with the multiple component tag if I tab thru the column, pile, drop panel etc. within the project - but I just want one tag.  I seem to be missing something colosolly simple and it irritates me. Please send help and a bottle of Jagermeister. See attachment.

You basically need one parameter for every family type within the parent family, set each differing parameter to a different family type then add a formula to the type mark which must be an integer to link the type mark to the correct family type. Havent figured out the formula yet because itt's an embedded if/then statement - need to brush up on that. In the project, the type is driven by the mark number, which in a multiple component tag you may add a prefix 'P' for Pile or 'DP' for drop panel, etc.
