I have a client that has a ton of equipment that they want to track in the models.  They have buildings all over the world, and different architects work on the projects.  They currently use a combo of Oracle, MS Access, and some other database.  I can export to SQL Express and then into Access on a project, but would like to know if you can have a data link to families.  Joe accountant can now change the Oracle cost on a piece, and Joe inventory guy can change the item number on the same piece from the same database, but I'd like to get Joe Revit guy to be able to send out families to the different architects without having to change 600 of them first.  Hope this makes sense.

BTW...the client has a ton invested and is not looking for a third party software.

Thanks

I can get this to work on a project as long as custom shared parameters are also in the project parameters, but I cannot get this to work on an individual family.

In this ssenario all the families for the client would have to be in a template project for them to manage, then they would have to export the families everytime there was a change, or everytime a new architect started a job.  Is that correct or can the client have a library of families that they can manage with a database that is bi-directional?
