Is there not a light fixture that snaps to a ceilng grid, (revit architecture 2012)? The only 2x4 box light in the library needs fine tuning to get into the grid pattern.
I know Revit MEP has lights that snap right in. Why not Architecture??

I'm not familiar with mep -- but a ceiling grid is nothing more than a hatch. If the insertion point of the family is in the right place, IE a corner, you ought to be able to tab through to select the intersection of the hatch lines to place your light fixture.
If not, there's no reason you couldn't move/align/snap your fixture to these lines fairly quickly.
This is likely an issue with the family, and not a difference between the mech and arch versions of the software.
