I really need help here figuring this out, if there is even a way. We deal with modular construction and therefore we multiply alot of our modules therefore we usually create one and then link it in a project to save time. At the moment we can not figure how to modify the door tags, we can insert them rotate them but we can not change the numbers. Is there a way to change them? Binding the links is not going to happen and trust me it is worth to link all those files. Thank you in advace for any help you can give even if its telling it can not be done at least I will not waste my time anymore.

You have to edit the linked file to change element properties in it..  The easiest might be to do it from a working schedule in that file.

If this is multiple links of the same file, then obviously, the above will not work.  Then I would create a fake door family that you place in your model that is tagable...... just an invisible line family in the door category and then don't tag the linked model.

Here is an invisible door family that will tag and schedule and is non-hosted.  Set up multiple types if needed for your schedule.  Then place these where your doors are - they will tag automatically so start in the #1 location and move sequentually from there.

This was just a few minutes.... Generic template (non-hosted) - changed category to door and put an invisible line circle in it.  Pretty simple.

BTW - Invisible families like this can get lost in your project because they are invisible.  Of course you could find them with a schedule but here is something you might want to add to this family.

  1. Open the family in the family editor
  2. Goto the object styles and create a new model sub category (linetype) I name it something like HIDE THIS
  3. Add an X or O in using this linetype in your family plan view
  4. save and load the family

Now set up your plan templates in the project to not show this sub-category under doors.  Just turn it on when you really want to see them.

We use invisible families like this for many types of things.....
