Hi All
I'm using Revit 2012 and have created a porject in which I have all my topography and site elements. I have Linked the main bulding project into this project, positioned etc. I then for speed opened a map of the area into sketchup and lifted the surrounding buidlings up and added detail to some critical buidlings ie surrounding churchs. I then brought the sketchup model into The revit site project .
Now everything is fine when i do various 3d view, renders etc. But when I try and do 2d sections or elevations with the main building and wanting the sketchup model in the background for context, the part of the sketchup model that should be behind me as I view the main building in the view is actually blocking the view. if I do a 3d view of the section or elevation everything is fine, but i want to add dimensions and text to that view.
Any Ideas, I've tried shifting the view ranges about to no avail.
Thanks in advance

Sketchup and CAD brought directly into a model are not cuttable elements. Search cuttable in your HELP to find out what is cuttable.

If you are really stuck, and need a sketchup model section to show in another program - there is a workaround. Its not ideal, but you can cut a section permanently in Sketchup with the following free script: http://rhin.crai.archi.fr/rld/plugin_details.php?id=361
Using this script you can then make a permanent section - import that into (say a copy of your final project) - and get the view you require. Like I say - not ideal, but think it'll work. Theres a tutorial on how to use the plugin, but it focuses on using vray as a render - I believe it wouldn't be too hard to adapt the steps to exporting a 3D model though

(clumsy method - but hope it helps if all else fails

Thanks for the feedback.
What I ended up doing is split the sketchup model into four diferrent models, import them into the model then switch them on and off depending on the view I am wanting.
Cheers
