Hello there. I'm a new user at this site. I found out about it from my Architecture II teacher and, unfortunately, the information about a site where I could speak with experienced architects and learn how to use such a versatile (albeit complicated) program came with the news that previous students had decided to abuse the site and act disrespectfully. Our school's IP address was subsequently blocked and now, to access the many downloads and tools on the site, we have to go through a complicated and lengthly process that involves my teacher using several high-memory flash drives. The reason I can access the site is because I'm doing this on my own time at my home computer.

I couldn't find an area of the forum where I could talk about issues involving the site itself rahter than the program, so I decided to come here.

If there is anything that can be done, it would be a wonderful help.

Use the "Contact Us" button at the bottom of this page.

I am a moderator at RevitCITY.

Part of my volunteer duties are to monitor the chat room. The chat room is provided as a tool for RevitCity users for instant Revit relevant communication.

Lately we have been having problems with students who come into the chat area and are abusive, vulgar or just disruptive. We advise the users when they open a chat session to "Please remember that RevitCity.com is a resource to the professional community, keep your language clean and appropriate."

When users do not follow these rules we will ban them which results in a ban of the IP address. If the user is really vulgar or verbally abusive, we do not warn them. If they are just being disruptive, we try to give fair warning explaining what a ban will do. Sometimes that is enough.

Anytime a user is banned from the chat, that IP address is also banned from the site. We had to do this because banning people only from the chat was causing problems. The offending student that was banned from the chat would often go to the forums and start posting offending content there.

We know that RevitCITY is a great tool for students and we want you to be able to use it. I realize that this is affecting more than the offending student but we can not just ban individual students.

In order to lift the ban, we need the offending student's username. We also want the class instructor to get involved so that they are aware that their students are causing problems on the site during class time and if they don’t want to loose privileges to the site for their whole class again, they need to monitor what’s going on in the class better.

There are over 500 users that have been banned. We do not have a means to list these.  If you can identify the offending student's user-name and agree to monitor your students, we can lift the ban. Otherwise we need your IP address

WE MUST HAVE THE USER NAME OF THE OFFENDING PARTY TO LIFT THE BAN AND YOUR SCHOOL I.P. ADDRESS.

If you agree to this, please respond to the RevitCity address ("Contact Us" button).

Sincerely,

RevitCity.com Moderator
