What cut plane depth do people use for their structural floor framing sheets?  My company currently cuts ABOVE the framing sheet for that plan.

(ex. the Third Floor Framing view cuts 1'-0" above the third floor.)

My problem with this is the third floor walls show up as SOLID lines on the framing sheet, which seems very confusing to me.  Is there a better solution?

You could set walls to be lighter lines or screened.

The problem is the walls BELOW the framing are far more important than the walls ABOVE the framing.  Our engineers would prefer walls BELOW the framing to show up as dashed, and walls ABOVE the framing either be completely hidden, or just barely visible.

They always want to see columns both above and below...

Seperate worksets would have worked for this.  One per level. But...

Something you might try.  Set your VG wall lines to dashed.  Then reset your view depth to above the floor.  Window the view, filter for walls and over-ride graphics by element for all these walls setting them to something very light.... Now - reset your view depth.

Thanks, but I forgot to mention the walls are in a linked architecture model.  CryingI can't over-ridge graphics by element to a linked model.)

You can over-ride graphics by element for a linked model!  You have to tab select one element at a time.

I can tab-select to grab one of the walls, but only can only Override Graphics in View by Category (see screenshot).  Is this what you mean?

Oops, your right.  I guess I had forgotten that you can hide individually but not over-ride...... Sorry for the miss-direction.

No worries. So it sounds like if the architect put each level on its own workset we could make our framing plans look better.  Though I'm sure the architect won't like it...

For anyone interested, this thread suggests to just cut right at the "top of joists" level.  This hides the walls above, shows the walls below, and would show any columns running through.  Not sure why this wouldn't work...
