Okay before I fly off the handle..I opened a sheet with linked 2d details imported in from AutoCAD from a previous template project.

I know I should be creating them in Revit but we are under a deadline and anyways they will do for now. Once again I opened the sheet and all of my text has moved off the sheet and the details.

I deleted all annotation in AutoCAD before the import and added the text in revit once I created the drafting views.

Each detail is a linked autoCAD view not a referenced Revit callout. This morning I opened the sheet and here we go again. It is a workset file.

Cake or Death

Cheers

I am bit confussed on how you imported your ACAD file?

Is your ACAD file imported direct onto the title border?  If so, try creating a drafting view and importing your CAD file to the drafting view and adding your text to the drafting view and then moving the drafting view onto your sheet.

Or

Put everything in a group so it becomes one entity if possible

Created Drafting view

imported ACAD 2D dwg as a link into drafting view

added annotation and text in drafting view in Revit.

placed named drafting view on a sheet.

2 days later all text had moved off of linework in drafting view and of course in the sheet.

hmm...

Sounds like the details in the AutoCAD file got moved so when you open the Revit file it updates the linked detail CAD file to its new location, is this a possability?

If the details don't need to change, try import vs link and group your CAD file with your text

You should consider importing the cad into your drafting views, not linking.  If you import and do a partial explode, it's almost as if you drafted in revit.  Sometimes we still bring in our old cad details as drafting views.

The only pit fall I see with exploding is it will bring in the AutoCAD layers as line styles which could be good or bad depending on point of view.

yeah, the ACAD lines are a little annoying, but we've prefaced our line types with their line weight, like

1-very_thin

2-thin

3-medium_thin

4-medium

so that the alphabetical sorting puts revit lines at the top.

tmassy, was it you that made the other threads with a similar problem? If so, it's sounding to me like something is corrupted, either with the project or with your Revit install. I can't say I've seen this, or heard of anything like it. Does it do this on anyone else's machine? Have you audited the project?

When I need to recreate a DWG detail and decide to explode and change lines I do it in a new dummy project. Then I select everything, use Filter to make sure I don't have any oddball linework still set to an ACAD line style, then C&P it into my Standard Details file. That way no strange ACAD leftovers don't make it into my good files.

Tmassey responds: I posted one other thread about my sections and text moving... tag line Poltergeist..however I found that someone in the workshare had moved my sections lines or possibly I did.

In this case I have never seen this happen before either and I have brought in ACAD links before into Revit. usually I purge the ACAD file and remove anything not required in my revit drafting view. 13 views on one sheet 9 ACAD 4 detail callouts all had the text thrown way off down the bottom of each view.

I audit once a day. If it happens again I will leave Architecture and take a post at Burger King.

tmassey out/.
