I am trying to organize my family library, and I've noticed that when I highlight the files, sometimes there is a preview of what it will look like and sometimes it is just the picture of the icon.  Does anyone know how to augment a family file so that there is always a preview?  It saves a lot of time while browsing through hundreds of doors to have a little picture of what it will look like!

Many thanks.

Oh;  P.S.

I am using Revit 2011 and wonder if the preview issue has to do with the version in which the family was created.  Along those lines, assume I know nothing about thumbnails; are they a property of the family or is it a MS Windows thing?  CryingUsing Windows 7 x64).

If it is a Revit version issue, is there a way to make any family compatible with thumbnails?

 Thanks.

When you save a file, their is an option to save current view (or any selected view) as the icon.  So open and save with this option selected.

Ok, one more question;

If the file doesn't come with a 3D view alread setup for the tumbnail and I try to create a new one that is zoomed in, when I save that view as the thumbnail, the thumbnail is tiny and zoomed way out from where I was.

Any idea how to make sure the thumbnail is the same as the view I choose for it?

I tried messing with the view scale, but that doesn't seem to affect it...
