Hello all, first of all let me say how invaluable your site and help has been.

I'm fairly new to revit and have come across a couple of questions in trying to work with an inplace wall. Take a look at the attached file.  The file that's attached isn't actually the project i'm working on but a quick sketch of what the issue is.

In plan view on the left i've got a four walled box made up of a standard wall type.  On the right i've got the same structure made as an inplace wall.  the problem i have is when placing windows within layered inplace walls.  The windows want to host in only one of the layers and won't cut the others at all.  I know i can potentially cut out the necessary voids from the other two layers manually but is there a way to set up a multiple layer inplace wall to completely behave like a regular wall when hosting objects?

Also, i know i can set the various layers to the common edges category so that their lineweights will display correctly but the inner most and outermost layers always show up with the "cut" lineweight on all sides of their edges, not just the the exterior and interior edges of the complete wall object. I know i can take the linework tool to it but is there a way to specifiy the correct lineweight or cut behavoir while making the model?

I'm on Revit Architecture 2012, btw.

Thanks

So i've decided to scrap this approach and am now using an exterior wall type comprised of my brick and cmu layers and an interior wall type comprised of my stud and gyp bd. layers. Both walls run parallel to each other and are touching.  Joining the two skins solves my window opening and lineweight issues.  Guess there was no need to model an inplace wall here afterall.

Think you figured it out. Often I will just go to an interior elevation and cut holes for the windows. If you join walls together the windows and doors will cut both.

It made sense to go in and cut them out, but the less i have to do manually the better. So far its working okay, though for some reason the "interior" wall (the stud and gyp) doesn't want to return correctly at the insert.  The gyp wraps but it doesn't wrap all the way back to the CMU, it seems to stop short halfway along the stud width.
