Happy Long weekend. I am creating millwork families in 2009 for our building model. How can I make the doors on my millwork cabinet open as they would with a regular door in Revit at 45 or 90 degrees.

cheers

lol, harder, yet easier than you'd think.  Your going to need an angle parameter, a reference plane for the face where the door would close flush to, and a reference line for the door... Prior to drawing in geometry, draw reference plane to represent face of cabinet, then draw a reference line at an angle to the reference plane, then create an angular dimension, and set it to be a parameter.  constrain the end of the reference line which is closest to reference plane to the reference plane.  Now flex your model, give it different values, and make sure that the "door" opens as it should.  Once you have the skeleton flexing like you'd want it to (be sure to go higher, and lower than actual values you expect to ensure your family is valid thru all values).  Once it is flexing like you want it to, then you draw in the geometry, and be sure to align & Lock the door geometry to the reference line so that it rotates (also pick the reference line as the work plane for the door geometry).

Just to expand on thetabest's post, you're probably going to find that it will work better to create a separate family for the door and nest it in the cabinet family. Also, to clarify use a ref LINE not a ref PLANE for the door angle.

Sorry I meant to say how do I make my angular dimension into a parameter. My apologies if this is a Barney Fife question.

Download the families guide from the AutoDESK site.  That will really help you understand the process.
