i cannot figure out why my roofs are now see-thru. this changed during the course of constructing and editing the model but, for the life of me, I don't know what caused this change. Anyone have ideas?

Check the material that is applied to the roof... You may have adjusted the material that the roof was using and thus made it transparent. Reset the material and make sure the transparency in the material settings is set to 0.

The second floor (w/ roof), elevations and 3D views look correct, only the roof plan is transparent. Strange.

I have the same thing in my first project but not the others. It just changed to transparent in for some reason - obviousl something I did inadvertently. I found it very useful at first because it allowed me to see exactly what was where, but then I found nowhere to 'turn it off'. The model is definitely in 'Shading with edges' and all layers of the the roof material are set at 0 transparency. If you find out what it is, swarch, please let me know.

Are you sure someone hasn't used the paint tool to paint on a different material to the roof that is overrighting the standard settings?

Speaking from prior experience in a situation similar to this..... Is it possible that the Family type in the Element Properties is set to "Sloped Glazing?"

That is normal for transparency of objects. Only 3D views show trasparency in objects. It is definitely to do with the material thats been applied to the roof or painted onto it...

not sure i understand. view is plan, the 3D views show opaque. material transparency is 0. initially the roof was solid in this view and i did not modify the roof type prior to this change. all roof types are now transparent (shingle, generic, metal) and all slopes and phases but initial roofs were solid. thanks for pondering!

it appears to always be in wireframe mode even with the other view options selected....therefore it may not be a "roof" issue but a graphics style issue. what could cause that?

Hmm, don't know if i can help without looking at the file. It's one of those issues that requires interrogation of the model. Maybe send to Autodesk Support for them to have a look at?
