I have created two files: 1 file is the site and the other file i have modeled my buildings in.  I have inserted my Building model into the site file.  Now my problem is with my railing materials, for some reason I can not change them to black.  In the bldg. model file I have applied the correct material and the railings are black in the file.  Not sure whats going on any ideas would be great. Thank you!

Typically, I want to render from the file that has the correct settings.  So I would link the Site into the building and render from that.

Make sure the material in your site file matches the material in your building file. (same name and same materials)

Revit, for some reason will, even though you have set the material correctly in the file you modeled your element in, if the materails in the host model have the same name but different material assigned to it, the linked model will take on the material properties of the host model.

But this is just a blind guess and only from my experiance from what you describe

Hope this helps

My explanation above if for families not links,

so check your family materials, make sure your project materials match your family materials.

If it still does not work, upload the file.
