I've created a flourescent light family which can be switched between surface mounted and recessed with only a click of YES/NO parameter. I have an opening in the ceiling that I'd like to eliminate or hide when the light is surface mounted. It's not a big deal but if I just leave the opening, then ceiling grid lines are removed (obviously) in reflected ceilings plans. I suppose I could just eliminate the opening from the family and create cutouts in the ceiling profile but that just seems inefficient. Can anybody give me some advice? Thanks.

Oh fantastic, I am very familiar with this technique but never even thought of using a void to cut my host element. I thought I had to use the "Opening" tool for hosts. Thanks alot WW!
