It would be nice if one could angle ends of an extruded shape without having to generate a void to cut the end or begining of an extrusion at an angle.

Why couldn't you just create the extrusion with the angle to begin with... Provided its extruded in the correct plane.

Because the nosing I need is in the X-Z plane and the angle I want is in the X-Y plane. The nosing is on one edge only so a sweep wouldn't work. Post edited on 2005-11-03 19:01:16

What is the issue with having to create a void?

We have a deep window sill in a doubled wall and the condition occurs many times along the elevation. It would just be cleaner if you could angle the begining and end of a extruded shape instead of having voids all over the place.

Hmm, couldn't you just create the shape as an adjustable element and place each of them as a wall hosted family or alike.. Bit hard to comment without a pic.

The extrusion is from left to right. The ends of the sill are angled because of the window opening. An adjust able element?

It looks as though the window is hosted by one wall, then another wall is drawn external to this and you've then created an opening in this wall. Is this the case? For the wedge form opening, create a generic wall hosted opening (so it doesn't schedule, unless you want to schedule this opening in addition to the window?) by using the Void-->Blend option in elevation on the wall and making it parametric. Constrain to the faces of the wall and voila. It would then just be a matter of placing the opening in front of all the appropriate windows and adjusting its size to suit. Assuming this is what your trying to do...

We used two walls and just inserted the window into the exterior wall leaving us with a deep interior sill. A solid blend would work fine if we didn't have a rounded edge (hard to see but in the first picture) at the edge of sill. Ultimately we just created a generic family for the sill and used voids to cut the angled ends of the extruded shape. There are probably several ways to model this geometry it just would have been neat if one could angle the ends of an extrusion. Thanks for the input. Post edited on 2005-11-04 18:04:59

Fair enough. In which case i would've just a blend and sweep. But suppose that puts us pretty much back where we started...
