Hi all,

i need help? I try to use girder in my project. I loaded and adjusted some parameters. Later i need modification on this specific girder. When i go to edit family all parameter go away and i just see default parameter for girder. What i am going to is deleting some elements and rotating and some small changes. These changes will destroy the constrains which is ok. Is there any way to keep modified girder and make changes in that girder? Revit 2011

Thank you very much, i will appreciate any help.

it sounds like you want to modify a standard beam/girder family for a special instance.

Just make a copy of the family and name it something else.

You can delete the additional types from the project after you load it.

Make sense?

(Your question did not make so much sense)

Thank you,

but what i was trying to do is deleting some of the internal diagonal bracing and customizing according to my roof structure such as some times i need vertical bracing instead of diagonal. In project i could not able to select these but in family editor revit allow me to select but i loss my girder in family editor. Because it automatically starts to edit initial parameter which is not proper to my project. Basically what i am looking for is something similar that edit block in autocad... Thanks again.

You need to do some fundametal traing on Revit family building before you tackle a very complicated family.   First, I suggest you goto this site:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=11091739

and download these files:

Families Guide (CHM)

and

Families Guide Imperial Training Files

These will give you a lot of the information you need.

Good Luck ... come back if something stumps you.
