I am new at creating hatch patterns, but one that I am trying to create is one for a 12 x 12 carpet tile.  My goal with this is to have solid lines represent the outside of the tile and have a sand-like hatch pattern in the middle.  Below is the code I wrote for this and it doesn't seem to be working.  I can get the sand to show up, but not the solid lines.  Any help would be appreciated.
