Hey everyone, Working in Revit Arc 10 and I have a millwork wall panel lining the corridors, so I modeled a 2'x4'x3/4" panel with parametric width (to do equal/equal at ends).  I placed the panels on the wall, but in some locations is it blocking my fire extinguisher cabinet and needs to be notched.   I tried to put a void within the family that is parametric and can be adjusted as needed.  I can adjust the void in two directions fine, but the other two directions move the entire family when I try to adjust it instead of just adjusting the void edge.  The void is locked to Strong References. Thanks for the help

Are the two that are NOT working vertical?

Is so, just a hunch,  make sure you are constraining to 'reference planes' and not the default 'Ref. Level.

Often I place a reference plane right on top of the Ref. Level and use 'Tab' when placing the constraining dimensions to make sure I am tieing it to the reference plane and not the Ref. Level.

Otherwise upload the family and let's have a look at'r.

One is move the top void edge and the other is the left void edge.  it works fine in the family, but when I load it into the model, it acts up.

Hmm. needs some cleanup. You have some parameters in there that aren't really serving any purpose. a few locked dimensions that could go away.

I would need to know your objective. You also have an EQ constrain and locked dimension in plan that seems to be causing problems. Then you have a Width and Width B parameters. It doesn't look like Width is being used.

Some are instance paramters and some are type but I don't quite see the logic.

I'd try to rebuild for you if I knew the objective but you are using an older version of REVIT.

Anyone else see an easy solution to this?

ya, I know its kinda messy, I've been trying so many things to get it to work.  I think the issue is the EQ/EQ in plan.  I never noticed that before, and that is part of the template of a wall hosted family because I can not delete it or unconstrain it.  Not really sure how to fix it, so I'm not sure what to do

Thanks for you help, I appreciate it

I was able to remove the actual parameter 'length' in the parameter dialog box which did help.

The normal wall based template should not have that parameter nor the EQ thing in plan either??

Wall based family template should not have an EQ constraint at all. The 2011 doesn't have any built in plan parameters.

After you remove the plan length parameter it turns the dimension into a locked dimension. Unlock it.

I would also unlock those other dims in elevation placement side.

In fact unlock all locked dimensions.
