I have downloaded families from RevitCity and I want to render them in my revit project. When I render, the families that I loaded render as the default, while the families I made myself and loaded render just fine. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I attached one of the files below.

 Thanks,

 Gloria

" When I render, the families that I loaded render as the default....". What do you mean by "as the default"?...White?...did you check their version? if they are 2008 or earlier, some materials could not be compatible with Mental Ray. Are they SU or ACAD imported models? if so, check their materials.

"I attached one of the files below." Is this one of the family you downloaded from here or one of the families you made yourself?, 'cause it renders just fine....

Yes, they are rendering white, which says "default".

That is one of the ones I downloaded from here...I guess maybe I am doing something wrong?? How did you get it to render?

I just tried rendering the chair in a separate file from the one I've been working on, and it rendered just fine. Do you have any idea why that is?

After some tests I believe my real question is: how do I update a family once I have loaded into a project so that it will change within the project?
