Has anyone else found aproblem when upgrading window families from Revit 2010 to Revit 2011. I have found a problem with all the window familes i use that the same families after upgrading to 2011 seem to position themselves in relation to a defult sill height not the head height has been working fine since 2008. Ive been tearing my hair out trying to even find where this defult sill height paramter comes from. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is a big problem for my office that i cant sort.

I have attached both the 2010 family and the 2011 family if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

That is correct. However the problem is that in 2010 Revit my families were setup to insert at a consistant head height of 2100mm so if they are inserting at a defult sill height of 1200mm then the heads are at different heights, and this has some how changed in upgrading the families to 2011 Revit.

Yes I have the same problem where the window is inserted at 0 Sill Level no matter what the default sill level is in the window family. I have just upgraded to 2011 from 2009.

Is there a way to select the default sill height being used?

Nathan

I believe you can change the defauly sill height in the family itself, or delete the Default Sill Height altogether and use a Sill Height parameter...

Thanks Eldados

The problem is that I have a sill height in the family which in RAC2009 made sure that all windows placed in the project ended up with the correct head height. However 2011 seems to be ignoring this sill height in the family and putting everything in at 0 sill height no matter what the family parameters are set at.

My Families would work if i could delete the defult sill hieght in the family and use my head height. But i cant even find where the defult sill height paramter is in my families. Mabye take a look in the familes i origional posted in this thread and see if you can find this parameter.

I have only been using Revit for a short time but I just had a play and as far as I can tell if you deselect the ref plane at sill height (as viewed in an elevation) as being "Origin" and then select the 2100 head height ref plan as being Origin, it appears to work.  Good luck!

That is correct. By changing the origin from the sill reference plane to the window head reference plan it sort of works however it is still the 'sill height' parameter that adjusts the hieght where the window head is posistioned.

Anyone have any luck in changing the name of what the window references as the origin in Revit2012? I can get the origin to be the head height, but in the project it defaults to a label of Sill Height. This is a very annoying override to the typical customization since we reference all our windows to the head heights in our office.
