I feel like this is a work around that is made more difficult than it needs to be. I've used an actual Window Tag to tag the individual panel of glass within the curtain wall and itshows accurately. Prevents confusion with Wall/Window type tags. Sure, takes a couple of tab cycles to get the click right, but you can (cc) copy after you get the first one tagged, as long as there's another panel near the "paste" location.

cody...   I don't think what you say is possible.   Window tags read window elements.   If you tried to tag a curtainwall panel, even one that was glass, you would have to use a curtain panel tag.

You can place host wall, in lieu of system panels, in a curtain wall and then windows inside that host wall which could then be tagged by a window tag.   The window and host wall are typically the same size to immitate using windows in storefront/CW framing.  Perhaps someone has set up your project that way and you don't know it.  (This is a true building method except the host wall doesn't really exist.)

Actually, your right. Its a curtain panel tag. I was mistaken. I set up all our revit standards some time ago and made our curtain panel tags to mimic window tags.

So basically the same thought process except we use the entire wall.  Using one of the panels, that may or may not be in view where you want to tag the CW, would seem to be problematic.  Of course, you could edit all of the panels to be the same but that seems to be more work to me.

The method of using elevations and hiding everything other than the storefront is great. Rather than making callouts on the building elevations and hiding them, I just made a new elevation symbol that looks like the window tag (diamond) and shows it's name (the window type). Then these elevation markers work as window tags and to generate the window elevations that I need.
