I want to use structural walls, because they are more flexible to be modified instead of structural columns.

2 issues :

1- I do not want them to trim with other walls - just act as columns

2- when exporting in dwg I want them to be the same layer with columns (right now they export same layer with other walls)

anybody has any suggestions

thanks

First, how is a wall more flexible than a column? If you need a column in your model, you should be using a column, not a wall.

To make a wall not join other walls, right click on the grips at the wall and select disallow join.

You can change what layers are used for each category when exporting. I forget how to get there though, it's been too long since I've exported to a dwg. Search your help, it will be there.

I need a wall, for example when a structural wall is wrapping around a cast in place concrete staircase.

I cannot use a single column for that.

If I place a structural wall in this case, it trims with other "normal" walls around it

this is what I would like to avoid.

thanks

If anyone still conserns about this, my solution is to make a column family that changes its parameters

(length and width) by INSTANCE
