Is there a way to abbreviate a room name but it doesn't show abbreviated in the schedule? Example: I have a bathroom, and the room name is "Typical Resident Bath". I would like to abbreviate it as "T.B.R." on the floor plan because the room name takes up too much room and covers up dims, fixtures, physical parts of the bldg, etc... But when I open up my room schedule I would like it to read "Typical Resident Bath" and not "T.B.R."

Is there such an animal?

You have a couple of options:

1. Establish a new shared parameter called "room abbrevetion" or similar.  Add the new parameter to your project and then modify or create a new room tag that references the new parameter for tagging purposes.  In your room schedule use the full room name parameter.  Because there are two paramters you will have to fill both of them in.

2.  Essentially the same as above, except hijack an existing Revit parameter for the abbreveation.  You will still have have two parameters to manage and will have to create of modify a room tag to use them.  Because you are using standard Revit parameters, in this method you can use Revit Key Schedules to help the process be easier and more consistant.
