I have invested several hours in testing out the 'Wood Framing Walls Extension' included in the Subscription Advantage Package of RAC, RST and RME 2010.
The extension is super cool and has amazing potential but it's release is a little pre-mature. Perhaps the developers will read my post and apply that information to it's next release.
I have a video CADclip tutorial and lots of information at this post > http://revitrocks.blogspot.com/2010/01/revit-wood-framing-walls-extension.html
Any comments are welcome . . . .

Good review Daryl - I'm glad you took the time to do this so we didn't have to.   It's too bad this app doesn't work as well as it should.  I know there are users here that want this.

Yes, it's pretty dissappointing.

This is the Autodesk way now it seems. The 'egg timer' approach.

When the bell goes off just release it whether it's completed or not. It's kind of funny because the more you use this app. the more your brain keeps saying "Did they fire all the programmers midway through and then just release it anyway".

I was all excited to do a detailed training series but it's going to have to wait.

I've had a quick look at it, and it does look intetesting from the postbut I think i'll stick to using a cutrain wall panel to create my wood framingQuick grid patternMullions made out of woodno panels

adjusting the grid for doors/windowsMy only problem is creating curtain panel doors and windows from scratch, but that never takes long

dgcad-

Is there anyway with this extension to use metal studs?  I watched your cadclip and I think you said you could use revit defined materials, so could you use metal studs?

I think the curtain wall idea is a good one, but if the settings are retained this could be a great tool.

What do you think?

Is there a typical residential (wood framing) wall family?
