Hey everybody

Im looking for some help on constraining an array to a surface which may change angle (see uploaded picture). What is seen in the picture is an array which fills up with elements according to its length. Now, i want to constrain this array to the rafter (is that the right word?) by constraining (see positions at drawing) reference 1 to 2, 3 to 4 and 5 to 6.

In this way, when changing the width or the angle of the rafter, the array should automatically fill out the indicated surface / line with elements. I can make all the constrains (1 to 2, 3 to 4 and 5 to 6) but then it complains about the constrains when trying to change the angle. If i only constrain 3 to 4 and either 1 to 2 OR 5 to 6 i can change the angle, but then i have the problem of one of the ends of the array not fitting to the end of the rafter.

I think that is how much explaining of the problem i will do for now. I hope someone has an idea to how it should be done proberly? I was introduced to Revit 2-3 years ago but have not used it since. For the last 3 weeks or so i have started playing a bit with it. What i have experienced is that it takes some trying and undoing to get acquainted with what works and what do not work with the constraining in Revit. I hope someone can help to become ONE experience richer :-)

EXTRA EXTRA ... i have uploaded a 4-5 minutes video to http://screencast.com/t/5SRkU1qoX . Apparently my computer is either to small or it needed a reboot. Revit was going rather slow at least due to the video-making... but i hope it helps to illustrate the problem im experiencing. :-)

Watched the video, and I think it's the name of your file which is causing the issue.  Revit doesn't like foul-mouthed users.

What you are trying to accomplish would be better suited for application within the rafter family itself.  Here are the basics of what you are trying to accomplish, and I like your use of Jing.  I think I'll follow suit.

See attached video at:

No audio...thought it was working...good song nonetheless
