Have any of you guys heard of Autodesk University? It's an annual conference held every year with training seminars, lectures, etc. My boss is considering sending a small group of us to the conference this year, but we don't know of anyone who has gone before to give us a reliable report on it's value. We just want someone who has been before, and is not associated with Autodesk to give us their personal and non-biased assessment of the conference. It's expensive and we just want to know if it's worth it. Do any of you guys know anything about it?

I do not work for Autodesk and have been to the past two Autodesk Universities (AU ). I first started using Revit in the spring of 2003 and did a couple of projects with it, but never really was that great at using Revit. I decided to go to AU 2003 and had to pay my own way and burn my own vacation time to attend. In the first 15 minutes of the first class I started learning things about Revit that propelled my knowledge up to the next level. My head was spinning at the end of the week with all the stuff I had learned. The teachers were the best and the whole experience was wonderful. I came back from AU2003 enlighted about Revit. I went back in 2004, again at my own expense and learned just as much as in 2003. I'm signed up again this year, again at my own expense and can't wait. Some of the classes are just too good to be true. BD21-1L a 3.5 hour lab on family creation with Steve Stafford and Dave Conent from Autodesk, BD14-2 Chis Zoog's multi-unit projects class, BD35-2 Dave Conents advanced family class, BD34-1L Zoog and Baldings new tips and tricks class and more too numerous to mention. I guess I would say that you really should consider going. Some of the Revit classes will fill up very fast especially the labs so the earlier you register the better. HTH Tom

Thanks for the info, that is exactly what I needed to know. I will look into those classes, I have already ear marked a few of those. We are trying to nail down our plans this week, hopefully that is enough advance planning to get into the seminars we want. Thanks again.

I'm going for the first time, on my own ticket as well. Having been through a resellers training classes for Revit, I am hoping to expand my knowledge of Revit to a much greater degree. I do hope that Autodesk adds another class on the Family Editor because the only class they have at AU is full, and Family Editor is one of the keys to get inside Revit. I have written Autodesk and ask Revitcity users to please write Autodesk to requests they add another class!

I'm in the same boat as dschell. paying my own way, but after a year of learning Revit entirely on my own I am so anxioius to go. I've signed up for eleven classes and look forward to the "Stump the Chumps" affair the first night. I feel confident the my experience will be as tomdimm said, greatly beneficial. I'll probably learn more in four days than I have the entire last year. It is truly wonderful to have guys like Mr. Spot , BeeGee, Steve Stafford and many others who freely give of their time and knowldege but there is nothing like first hand experience and getting your questions addressed in the moment. Look forward to seeing you there.

I will teaching Architectural Desktop at AU. I highly recommend AU. With over 4,000 attendees, and the best of the best there - you will definately upgrade your knowledge
