Hi,

I have drawn an upper floor of a building which is intersecting the perimeter wall (it cuts through the walls to the outer face of the core), however Revit is telling me the floor and wall elements are "joined but not intersecting", so it won't clean the joint in the section. From the plan and the section though it's clear that the floor DOES intersect the walls... The floor below worked fine. Any ideas what could cause this? Thanks

C

I'm not sure what the problem is, but you should be able to fix it by deleting the lines associated with the walls and use the 'Pick wall' function to draw new lines.  Then use the join tool and the floor will join with the walls according to the layer function settings of the wall and floor.  Or copy the floor from below if they're the same.

hi tim,

I've remade the floor a few times, by editing the existing one, and by deleting it and remaking it completely by using the pick walls tool. Either way i'm still told that the walls are "joined but not connecting" (see attached section image). I can't really copy the floor below as it is somewhat different.

I'm having a separate problem at the same wall, but possibly they are connected. When inserting new windows at a certain section of that wall at ground floor level I get the message

"Can't keep wall and roof joined" (even though the roof is 3 floors above). If i click the "Unjoin Elements"button I get this message:

"Failed to fix problem. Action has to be cancelled". So I can't place any windows there.

Do you think these things might be connected?

Thanks for the help!

Colin

Do you have severals wall (different walls in each level) or you create only ONE Wall from the terrain to the Roof???

That's why I don't like to use that method.... use walls in each level....

Probably a good idea, although I'd like to figure out what the problem is rather than just working around it (I've been doing that quite a lot with Revit for these types of seemingly random problems, and they always come back to bite me later on!).

Thanks for the advice

alright, problem number 1 (the floor "not intersecting" the wall) solved:

The wall in question was originally drawn with a top constraint of First Floor Level. I extended it up to the roof later, but obviously Revit considers the wall as not really existing at second floor level, even though it is there graphically.
