Hi there,

I am working on my first Revit job.  Using Revit Structure 2009.  I usually draft in AutoCad.  I am trying to draw a truss that has a double top chord 2-245X684 Glulams.  With an HSS 254x254x9.5 bottom chord, and HSS vertical & diaganal members.  The vertical and diaganals are sandwhiched between the 2-glulam top chords.

How do I add the double top chord to my truss, in the truss template?  It only lets me add a single member family types dialog box.

 Thanks

I am using RST 2010.

Trusses or truss members are made up of nested structural Beam and Brace families.

You need to make a new structural framing familiy, that is the double chord and then load that family into your project. Then specify it in the truss top chord as a type parameter.

I did the truss in the attached image fairly quickly but it seems to work. I used the family template > Metric Structural Framing - Beams and Braces.rft and mofified the extrusion to have two profiles @ 254mm x 84mm with a 254mm space.

I could have made the double top chord sit lower by changing the vertical locations of the two extrusion profiles in the custom framing family.
