Whenever I try to create a material take-off for doors and windows the same door/window always show up twice on the schedule, how can I get it so it only shows up once?

It shows up twice because you have it in there twice ... somehow.  Do you have nested door entities in families that are shared?

You might also revies warnings because you may have two objects in the same place.  You could also delete the door from the schedule and see what happens.

Narrow down the possibilities. In a 3d view select one of the windows or doors, right click and > select all instances. Then check the 'filter' and see how many exist. Is that accurate or doubled ?

This will narrow down the problem as far as how many actually exist. Filter behaves differently depending on your version of revit.

Not sure how it will represent nested doors or windows within a door or window family. If that is the case investigated by opening up one of the suspect familes and see if it has a nested family listed in the project browser.
